Black Copal ~ Wildcrafted - Pure | Smudging - Purifying - Cleanse - Ceremony - Spirit - Resin

Sacred Ancient Peruvian Black Copal

Copal Negro (Protium Grandifolium) is a premium copal resin from Peru, which originates from a completely different tree than the lighter copals. Copal Negro produces a complex, multi-layered scent that is very pleasant and jovial. Used for cleansing, balance, clarity and protection and is sacred to the indigenous cultures of the Central and South Americas. Contains both nuggets and powder.

Smudging is ritual alchemy — changing and shifting the air element, and transforming our current experience to a mystical one.

ABOUT :

Resin is the life-blood of the tree, healing its wounds and inflictions and protecting it against infection. In short, resin repairs, protects and heals.

It also has a long history of use in ceremonial practices all around the world from some of the most renowned civilizations—from the ancient Egyptians to the Native Americans.

When burned, these precious resins emit a holy smoke and beautiful fragrance that is known to clear negative energies, connect us with the our higher consciousness and spiritual realms and surround us with high vibrations. They are also used to heal, balance and protect our physical and energetic bodies.

HOW TO SMUDGE WITH RESINS :

Natural fragrant botanicals can be burned on special incense charcoal tablets or disks. The heat releases their beauty and aromatic properties.
To light any type of charcoal, Use your coconut charcoals included in the kit, light your hemp wick and hold it underneath a charcoal tilted sideways, hold the charcoal with tongs, pinchers, chopsticks or carefully with your fingers, over the flame until the edge begins to glow. I like to light my charcoal outside and then bring it into the house when possible.

Always wait until the coal has a full coating of white ash on it before placing incense, this creates a cushion over the the intense heat of Coal.

Then place the charcoal onto an ash, sand or prepared censer. (a heat-proof or stone bowl, clay copalera) You can also fill a bowl with sand and place the charcoal on top of the sand so there is a protective layer, do not let the charcoal touch the bowl or it will ruin it, also don’t use your favorite bowl, it is best to dedicate a bowl - can be metal, stone, etc for burning resin.

It is always best to grind resins placing them onto the charcoal, as when you put whole resin pieces they can start to burn after a minute or so causing an unpleasant smell and also melt onto the charcoal putting it out much fast. I have a small mortar & pestle dedicated to grinding resins into a powder.

After the charcoal is ignited and covered with ash, you may put the resin directly on the live coal.
There should be a good amount of smoke, for the smoke brings purity and the presence will linger.
Carrying the censer from room to room, visualize the space becoming free of old patterns and misfortune, clear of negativity. Think that all that this smoke touches will be blessed.
